Evo-Stik League South - Premier Division Central - Saturday, 1st December 2018
Halesowen Town 0 Stratford Town 2
There was to be no dream start for Halesowen's new manager Rob Smith and his assistant Larry Chambers, as Stratford eased to victory with two second-half goals, writes David Johnson.

Together with new loan signings Liam Truslove and Callum Coyle, young goalkeeper Kieran Boucher made his home debut and was called straight into action with a sharp 3rd minute save to push away Jamie McAteer's shot for a Stratford corner.
The Yeltz briefly enjoyed their best spell of the game with some neat passing approach play seeing Lewis Reilly blocked on the turn in front of goal after six minutes. Reilly then headed Asa Charlton's 8th minute cross onto the top of the net and Tobias Hayles-Docherty hit a low shot just wide after 11 minutes.
But the early bluster soon faded and Stratford settled to control much of the rest of the game as a low shot from Wilson Carvalho drifted just wide after 20 minutes. Boucher made a fantastic fingertip reflex save to tip Albi Skendi's goal-bound shot onto the crossbar after 25 minutes and William Grocott curled wide with a 39th minute free-kick. In a further spell of pressure immediately ahead of halftime, Boucher made another great save to block Carvalho's low shot with his legs.
The visitors stepped up a gear after the interval and took their second-half chances to skip to a comfortable victory over the struggling Yeltz. McAteer headed a free-kick from Grocott over the bar after 53 minutes whilst Lee Hughes was blocked seconds later at the other end.
Stratford took the lead when CARVALHO slotted home from the penalty spot in the 59th minute after young Joab Wheatley clipped the legs of visiting centre-forward Michael Taylor. The visitors deservedly doubled their lead in the 71st minute when Boucher failed to gather a low cross, allowing GROCOTT to lift the loose ball into the net.
There was little response from the Yeltz - who have now scored only once in seven league games - although Truslove's 80th minute low shot was turned away for a corner at the end of a disappointing afternoon that only served to lay bare the scale of the rebuilding task that lies ahead for the new management duo.
