Pre-season Friendly – Saturday, 8th August 2009

Halesowen Town 0 Cinderford Town 1

A solitary early goal was enough for Cinderford to claim victory despite Halesowen dominating for long spells.

Halesowen introduced Luke Barlone and Tom Breward as well as welcoming back goalkeeper Nick Bussey between the posts.

But with only ten minutes on the clock Lewis Summers threaded the ball through for Mike DAVIS to slot the ball into the net beyond Bussey from ten yards to put Cinderford ahead.

From that point, the hosts did everything but score as the visitors defended their lead. Henry Eze headed just over the bar from Stephen Cooke’s 28th minute corner and the Yeltz forced a string of corners before the interval without reward.

In further home pressure, Scott Rickards sliced a good chance just wide three minutes into the second half and Matt Dodds just failed to connect fully with a cross from Aaron Griffiths. Stefan Moore was then denied by the crossbar in Halesowen’s best chance of the afternoon from captain Jamie Smith’s 63rd minute cross. Kris Witcombe hit a 67th minute long range effort inches over the bar for the visitors before a 70th minute shot from Dodds was well saved by Cinderford goalkeeper Sam Gilder and Rickards blazed the rebound high.
