Pre-season Friendly – Tuesday, 9th July 2011
Moreton Rangers 1 Halesowen Town 3

Halesowen ran out winners in the first pre season friendly of the 2011/12  campaign.

A revitalised Club under new owner Steve Lynch, The Yeltz were buoyed by Manager Shaun Cunnington and his squad giving the boss a winning start at Gloucestershire Northern Senior Division 2 side, Moreton Rangers. Shaun took the opportunity to give most of his squad an early run-out, fielding a different XI in each half:

Halesowen Town: First Half; Paul Evans, Alex Roofe, Peter Folkes, Brendon Kelly, Scotty Devlin, Nathan Coward, Anthony Bruce, Sam Wills, Lee Chilton, Nathan Jackson, Naveed Arshad

Halesowen Town: Second Half; Stephen Jackson, Jem Mills, Mark Smith, Chris Godwin, Adam Robinson, Callum Martin, Keenan Meakin-Richards, Andrew Westwood, Andre Hinds, Rory Curtis, Justin Nisbett

The first half was soon being played in squally rain but The Yeltz established their authority with 2 goals. the first came through a good strike from Anthony Bruce and the second via a well placed, strong header from the towering Nathan Jackson.

Moreton were encouraged when they pulled a goal back before the break and when the changed Yeltz XI took the field for the second half they were unable to achieve the same dominance as in the first 45 minutes. However, the result was put beyond doubt when Justin Nesbitt firmly drilled home a late penalty into the bottom corner of the net (see picture above).
