Bishops Cleeve 0 Halesowen Town 1

Winger Lee Chilton held his nerve to fire home an injury time penalty (see link) and hand Halesowen a last gasp victory.  The referee pointed to the spot after substitute Justin Nisbitt had been sent crashing to the floor by Cleeve keeper James Nortei, earning the latter a yellow card.  New signing Nathan Jones partnered Jackson up front. Naveed Arshad was unwell and Justin Nisbett was on the bench. With Anthony Bruce suspended, Andrew Westwood started in midfield while Mark Smith returned to the side at right back.

Halesowen had dominated the first half chances but looked like paying the price for their poor finishing.

Striker Nathan Jackson was clean through after just five minutes only to fire straight at keeper Nortei while Chilton crashed an effort against the crossbar midway through the half.

Nisbitt replaced the injured Jackson and should have made an immediate impact only to rush his shot into the keeper’s arms while an effort from new signing Nathan Jones was chalked off for offside.

Cleeve’s best chance of the half fell to James Vercesi but he fired across goal from eight yards.

Those missed opportunities looked like haunting the Yeltz as the home side dominated the second half and it needed some solid defending and some excellent saves to keep them at bay.

Keeper Paul Evans produced a dazzling effort to push a Carl Brown effort onto the upright seven minutes in with Nathaniel Caines clearing a Jake Lee effort off the line on the hour.

Lee went close again ten minutes later but this time the former Cheltenham Town youngster was denied by Evans.

Just when it looked as though the game would finish goalwards, Halesowen were handed their injury time penalty and Chilton duly slotted home.
